Kamnik with its surroundings is a paradise for hikers. Besides the easier recreational hiking trails, there are also more demanding hiking routes leading to the peaks of Kamniške Alps.  Should you decide to hike higher, we recommend that you find a mountain guide (we can do it for you). Do not forget that appropriate equipment is a must (warm clothes, anorak, hiking boots, helmet, hiking poles, backpack, snack and water or tea) and before you set off, be sure to get a good map or a guidebook, all of which can be purchased also in our Tourist Information Centre.
Even from the very center of Kamnik there are some very nice and intersting hiking routes leading to variuos directions – one of them leads to Stari grad. Most often the hike begins at Usnjarski most (bridge), where the trail is well marked. You can follow the trail in all seasons; even at night since the path ascending to Stari grad is lit. Once you are on top of the hill you will have a wonderful wiev of Kamnik and its surroundings. We recommend good footwear and hiking poles!
